Harrogate District Hospital Has Talent

Friday 28th Jan saw a fantastic night of fun and fundraising at Revolution in Harrogate. My wonderful colleagues raised 2106.15p for MSF by singing, dancing, panto horsing and monologing! My Blood Pressure also raised by around 40mm on the night but it was worth every mm!

I am incredibly moved by the kindness and generosity of the people I work with. Their willingness to get up there and perform or to come and support is truly inspiring. The fact that they have made this by far the biggest fundraiser so far is testimony to this generosity.

My friends Rachel and Chris are currently working on a DVD of the night which will be available soon and will be a nice record of the acts.

I would like to thank all who performed, ran the raffle, covered the door entry, organised the acts, sold the merch and gave up their night to help raise money for MSF I would also like to thank everyone from the audience who gave their hard earned money to MSF (and the bar!!). Finally, big thanks to JSAV who provided the lights and sound equipment at no cost and Jez the manager at Revolution who was fantastic. His willingness to assist in every way he could was much appreciated.

Spinning Challenge - Newburn Activity Centre

Today 9 lovely and committed people joined me for a 2 hour spinning Challenge. Brian our instructor led us along some beautiful imaginary roads - in the alps. My fellow cyclists have been raising money for MSF via the walk a2b project and there will be an update of the total raised in due course. I would like to thank everyone involved including Sam our photographer. I have to reserve a special thank you to Sara Donnison for organising the event and putting up with me in general . Thank you all for helping MSF.

Blues Without Borders

A fantastic day of music at the Blues Bar Harrogate from Adam Westesterman, Jen Armstrong, Lobo, The Pete Oliver Band featuring Sharon Colgan with Owen James and Scapegoat Kelly.

This event raised £700 which now moves the total near to £7000 and 40% of the target. The bands were wonderful and gave their time for nothing. Thank you all.

I must also thank Matt Stephenson for organising the whole thing, Lucy Barrow for selling raffle tickets, supporting me in the lead up to the day and general greatness. Sharon and Simon Colgan owners of the Blues Bar need a special mention. The event happened because they were kind enough to host the event. Not only this but they also provided raffle prizes , donated from bar profits and gave the money that would have gone to the performers to MSF. What can I say but thank you for your kindness.

A cup of tea and a slice of cake

A cup of tea and a slice of cake - What can I say? I continue to be amazed at the kindness, generosity and commitment of my friends. Gilly Spence and Howard Richardson ran a Tea /Coffee/Bun/Cake riot in Studley Roger today. It was to say the very least a success. I was in Studley earlier in the week and gave a talk about the walk . Today I spent 5 hours chatting and drinking tea with the customers while the workers slaved away over hot sinks and kettles in the kitchen.
When the dust (and the glitter from the buns) settled MSF was £683 to the better. Add to that £95 raised at the talk and this has been a fantastic week. I met nothing but interested and interesting people on both days and look forward to some further fundraising ideas as a result. I am humbled by the lovely kitchen crew – Howard, Gilly, Karen, Bev,Cathy,Louise and Mia and how hard they all worked. Thank you and thank you to the people who came and donated to MSF.

Burlesque Without Borders

This attempt at publicising Walka2b involved beautiful women removing their clothes and gyrating. Burlesque Without Borders, 21st October 2010 at the Elbow Room, Leeds, was a memorable night of burlesque, music and dance. We raised £1053 and a fantastic night was had by all.
I would like to repeat my thanks to Lily La Belle for her fantastic organisation, to the wonderful performers, specifically the unique Duke Wayward who compared in style. Finally I would like to thank everyone who came and made the night such a fantastic experience. I hope the sight of my buttocks didnt ruin it for too many of you.

A cup of tea and a slice of cake 2

Sunday 27th March 2011 saw the return of the best tea, coffee and cake gig in the county. Gilly Spence and Howard Richardson organised the day magnificently and put together the same team as the first event back in October. The Village Hall at Studley was heaving from 1100 , we had lovely weather and huge enthusiasm to support MSF. In all £964.64p was raised which is phenomenal. I cannot thank Gilly and Howard and the rest of the team enough for the amazing effort they have put into this. Truly wonderful friends and great supporters of MSF.
